Steve Reid - R.I.P.

In memoriam of Steve Reid, the master jazz drummer who died last week, it was bittersweet to revisit this interview from 2007 and watch this short documentary which covered the making of Daxaar, a collaboaration with various Senegalese musicans and Four Tet, filmed in Dakar.

Four years ago or so, when I first encountered Walter Kitundu, I wrote a glowing piece on his work. So I was very tickled the other day when I found this hi-rez video from the Learning Studio with the man himself. Check their blurb:

Out this week on Adjunct Digital, the Los Angeles based label run by dubLoner aka [a]pendics.shuffle aka Kenneth James Gibson, has released the first in a series of remixes of the classic dubLoner catalogue.

The EP, simply titled dubLoner - Remixes Part One, is available now on Boomkat and features a remix by Ruoho Ruotsi. Check out a preview on the soundcloud player below!
