Ruoho Ruotsi on Modyfier

Modyfier, the amazingly good music blog run by Rayna deNiord, is featuring Ruoho Ruotsi this week in its ongoing Process series. The concept of the series is that each week guest DJs/Producers/Artists present a piece of music (a mix or an original composition) and write about their creative processes, approaches & methodologies.

In today's installation, Ruoho Ruotsi gives the run down on his approach and the activity behind “Bèguèna Dub featuring Isaac Haile Selassie”, released last week on the 12" record Isaac Haile Selassie meets ... (see post below).

Isaac Haile Selassie meets ...

Conceived of by The Polycubist (Skor Records), de'fchild productions is proud to present “Isaac Haile Selassie meets ...” (DCP009). This 4 tracker 12" EP brings together the English and Amharic language entreaties of Isaac Haile Selassie and the productions talents of Jack Dangers, dubLoner (aka [a]pendics.shuffle), Gys and Ruoho Ruotsi. Each producer's track brings a distinct yet contrasting perspective, musicality and respect for Isaac's spoken word.

The 12" record jacket/cover artwork was made by the good folks at Foolscap Press, Santa Cruz. Using a 100 year-old antique letterpress, they produced jacket sleeves that exude a warm and hand-crafted feel, making one-of-a-kind musical-artistic statement that merges old and new technologies. We hope you enjoy it!!

Information and sounds are available on the release page.
