Max Brannslokker - Teika (DCP007) released!!
“Teika” by Max Brannslokker (DCP007), de'fchild's latest production is now out!! For more information on the record, check out the Teika release page. As with DCP006, hold tight for digital distribution on all your favourite outlets like Beatport, iTunes, KompaktMP3, etc.
Debuting on de'fchild with 3 brilliant, broodingly minimal techno tracks, Max Brannslokker, a rising star in the northern European scene, evokes the moodiness of Trentemoller while channelling the melodic sensibilities of Pantha du Prince. On remix duties, San Francisco producer Dave Aju (Circus Company, Context) serves up an absolutely HUGE remix of Utopia with his trademark jazz-minimal-funk. To round out the EP, San Francisco's Betalounge resident Todd Kurnat, aka Circuit73 (Siladi, Magnificent7) transforms Reindeer into a banging electro-tech crowd-pleaser that'll be jamming dancefloors from San Francisco to Riga! One more thing, we're having a release party on Wednesday, September 5th @ 222 Club, check out the flyer below in the previous post for more information!! Wednesday, Aug 29 2007 - 11:52

Ruoho Ruotsi @ Overlap7
This is turning into one of the busiest months of de'fchild is a long while. In addition to the recent release of Nuzzle Fudge by Suz + Layborn and the upcoming release of Teika (DCP007) by Max Branslokker, which will be released on the 28th of August (more on that later), Ruoho Ruotsi will be doing another liveset @ Overlap7 (Overlap.org). This time, the music will not be aimed at the dance floor as usual, but will be a more abstract and experimental excursion into modern dub. I'm not so good with all these genre names, so I'll leave the description at that and post the set after the show! Sunday, Aug 19 2007 - 19:33

Max Roach - R.I.P.
Max Roach, one of the greatest jazz percussionists passed away yesterday at the age of 83. He was a pioneering drummer, band leader, composer, educator, civil rights activist and MacArthur Fellowship recipient. It is sad to see, with all other other stuff going on in the news, the muted response and lack of reflections on the passing of someone of his stature. The New York Times has the most complete retrospective, while the Dissident Voice has a great little in memoriam called The Beat Has Stopped. Friday, Aug 17 2007 - 18:39

DCP006 out now!!!
After a couple month delay, Süz and Layborn's debut 12" vinyl EP, Nuzzle Fudge (DCP006) is out on now. Check your local distribution and groovy record stores for more information. Promo blurb: Making their vinyl 12" debut on de'fchild with an EP entitled Nuzzle Fudge, the talented production duo of Süz+Layborn showcase their uniquely stylish and sophisticated take on techno on this captivating 4-tracker. Combining layers of sensuous vocal sample-wizardry, hypnotic percussive sequences and fleshy bass figures, Nuzzle Fudge will have dancefloors heaving in no time. On remix duties, seasoned producer and stalwart of Montréal's thriving scene, Pheek serves up a spellbinding yet heady take on the the title track. On the flip side, making Nuzzle Fudge an all-Canadian affair, Winnipeg's own Ali Khan presents an explosive, driving minimal re-version to round out the EP.
oh yeah, gratuitous photos of the artwork can be found as usual on our flickr page. Thursday, Aug 9 2007 - 20:06
