Steve Reich remix on Breezeblock

Last week, I received an email that started off something like this:

I'm the producer on the Breezeblock on Radio 1. I'm pleased to tell you that your remix has been chosen by Steve Reich as the winning entry for the competition, and will therefore be released as part of the remix package.

Tonight, Mary Anne Hobbs, host & selector on the Breezeblock @ BBC Radio 1 (and host of the Steve Reich remix competition) gave a sweet and gushing introduction before playing Ruoho's remix for her Breezeblock massive (though it sounded like she played the crappy lo-fi MP3 sample I sent in initially rather than the high-quality master!!! *sigh*) The tracklistings and streamable show will be online for another week or so.

From all present indications, Ruoho Ruotsi's Pulse Section Dub mix of Music for 18 Musicians (a piece that I've rambled on about more than once here) is going to be released in a month on a 12 inch vinyl EP, on Atlantic Records UK (holy shite! Atlantic Records!?!?!) alongside other Reich remixes by Fourtet & Alex Smoke, in celebration of Steve's 70th birthday.

wow. fresh.
